Greg Fundis brings energy, positivity and groove to every class & performance in genres that span the spectrum from kids music to rock n roll, jazz to jamband, funk to hip-hop, pop to fusion and electronica to world music. Currently touring with Old Shoe, world-renowned guitarist Fareed Haque as well as Hammond B-3 organ master Tony Monaco, he has shared the stage throughout the U.S, Europe, South America, Caribbean Islands, Indonesia and Japan with other notable artists such as George Benson, Paquito D’Rivera, comedian Rich Little, Joe Lovano & Mr. Dave.
Greg received his Masters Degree in Jazz Studies from DePaul University and a Bachelors from Millikin University. While at Millikin, Fundis became an internationally published percussion composer at the age of 19 with his book of compositions, “Contemporary Audition Solos for Percussion”. His teachers and mentors have included Brian Justison, Kim Klickna, Joel Spencer, Steve Smith, Louis Bellson, Jim Chapin, John Yost, Michael Taylor, Guinean Grand Master musician Mamady Keita.
In addition to relentless performing, Fundis is a highly sought-after music educator, ensemble director, clinician & drum circle facilitator in the Chicago area where he has held positions at Roosevelt and DePaul universities and currently teaches music theory and percussion at People’s Music School, Whitney Young High School, Skinner North Classical School and coordinates world percussion activities with JCC of Chicago.
